COVID-19

Community Research Initiative (CRI) continues to monitor the situation around COVID-19 as MA transitions out of a State of Emergency. The safety of our clients, supporters and staff is of paramount importance to us.

We continue to work closely with the Department of Public Health (DPH) to ensure our clients receive essential coverage and care during these times.

HIV Drug Assistance Program (HDAP) & Comprehensive Health Insurance Initiative (CHII) Updates

Effective July 1, 2021, HDAP will resume all standard screening and enrollment procedures, consistent with the end of the Massachusetts State of Emergency and HDAP’s ongoing efforts to resume standard operations.

  • All clients due to recertify in HDAP must submit a complete application that they are eligible for during this cycle (short or long form) with the required documentation to recertify. Applications missing required eligibility documentation will not be approved. Short forms for clients who require a long form will be rejected.
  • For NEW clients applying to HDAP for the first time, CRI will accept a Rapid Eligibility Determination (RED) form (click here for Rapid Eligibility Form Instructions). Eligible clients are approved for three months of HDAP coverage. Clients should submit a complete long form within 30 days of the RED form to receive the full six months of HDAP coverage.
  • HDAP/CHII will continue paying health insurance premiums on a normal schedule (payments are made one month in advance for coverage the following month). For clients experiencing insurance losses, visit HDAP/CHII Updates for clients who have lost work-sponsored insurance.
  • HDAP will resume covering prescription costs for a single month of medication at a time. HDAP may cover prescription copay/coinsurance for more than one month of medication when required by a client’s insurance plan.

We understand that clients may continue to face challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic and encourage you to contact HDAP at 617-502-1700 or HDAPleadership@crine.org with urgent cases and client challenges.
